CORROSTOP-21

CORROSTOP-21 is a Corrosion Inhibiting Concrete admixture specially designed to prolong the service life of Reinforced Cement Concrete (R.C.C.) Structures by mitigating corrosion initiation and corrosion rate.

CORROSTOP-21 forms an invisible, strong and durable protective film around the RCC Steel rebars and enhances the service life of RCC Structures.

CORROSTOP-21 can be used in all types of Cement and Binders and it is compatible to Super plasticizing admixture, in general.

HOW DOES CORROSION OCCUR IN RCC STRUCTURES?

Corrosion of Steel in Concrete comprises of 2 stages:

Stage 1: Penetration of Chloride (Cl2) ,Carbon di oxide (Co2) and Sulphur di Oxide (So2) towards the steel through concrete.

Stage 2: When Cl2 , Co2 and So2 are high enough close to reinforcing steel, corrosion starts.This leads to Concrete damage and crack.

METHOD OF USAGE

FOR MIXER MACHINE

The recommended dosage of CORROSTOP-21 is 250 ml per 50 kg. bag of cement.

The required quantity of CORROSTOP-21 based on the batch volume of concrete, shall be added completely in the mix and it is advisable to dilute the CORROSTOP-21 in the mix water.

As it is generally done, mixing of all the ingredients shall be done thoroughly so that uniformity in the mix is obtained.

It shall be ensured that water to cement ratio is controlled in order to satisfy the requirement of IS 456.

Super – Plasticizer shall be used to enhance the workability If required.

FOR READY MIX CONCRETE

Dosage is 1.5 liters of CORROSTOP-21 per cubic meter of Concrete.

CORROSTOP-21 can be added in the RMC batching plant, by adding the required dosage directly into the mix water or to the wet concrete.

Since CORROSTOP-21 is low viscous admixture, it can be easily pumped from the storage tank kept below on the ground to the mixer at elevated location.

CORROSTOP-21 can be added into the transit mixer at site also. It shall be ensured that mixer drum is rotated at a speed of 11 to 14 rpm for not less than 3 minutes so that, corrostop-21 is blended uniformly.

CORROSTOP-21 does not alter the workability or setting time of concrete.

Storage – Store in a normal shelter

First Aid – Strong and saturated solution. It slightly irritates soft sensitive skin. Hence use hand gloves and goggles while handling. In case of any spillage on skins, wash the area with plenty of water and seek doctor`s advice if required.

CERTIFICATION

CORROSTOP-21 is advanced version of CORROSTOP-15. CORROSTOP-15 is being tested at ICOMAT (AN ISO 9001:2008 CERTIFIED COMPANY INCUBATED BY IIT MADRAS).
